London, Central London WC2 £25,000 Our client, the world’s most famous bookshop, is looking for a Network Administrator/IT Assistant, reporting to the IT Manager, to look after its trading and administrative networks. This job would suit a graduate level individual with some experience of helpdesk support for PCs and printers in a Microsoft Windows environment. Combining your existing knowledge with the training and mentoring provided, your role and responsibilities will include: - First-line desktop support to 100+ users covering both software and hardware - Support for workstations, peripherals, printers and till hardware - Setting up new users, desktops, laptops and printers - Support for Booksolve stock management system - Contact with external support companies - Administration of backup software, AV software and maintenance of the security and integrity of the network - Support for EPOS and phone systems and servers - Maintaining network documentation - Training users on applications - Communicating with managers and staff on all aspects of IT - Sourcing, purchasing, installation and maintenance of new hardware and software - The role will grow into administration of Windows *****/3, mail, SQL and Novell Servers, and internet services Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of maintaining relevant network environments, Microsoft Active Directory, TCP/IP and LAN, as well as MSOffice products. Knowledge of SQL Server is desirable. Knowledge of booktrade applications or retail systems would be an advantage. Working hours are 37.5 per week with regular weekend working to support the company’s 7 day a week operation. Some travel is required, mostly within the London area.
