Hammersmith W6 £35,000 - £40,000 plus up to 20% Performance Related Bonus and Stock Options Do you have solid experience in systems administration and infrastructure management? This is your chance to join a rapidly growing worldwide internet company. Our client needs a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team and work on the UK’s no.1 holiday rental site. Our client has a service-oriented architecture with a core Java application running on a Linux cluster in Europe. They also run 15 European websites on a Windows-based Coldfusion application with a SQL Server back-end. Their worldwide team is responsible for the platform behind 20 leading global consumer web sites. A flexible, personable self starter, as the Senior Systems Engineer / Senior Systems Administrator you will have the proven experience of system administration that will allow you to take responsibility of successfully operating the growing infrastructure the business depends on. You will join a team of 3, reporting to the European Systems Manager, and will take responsibility for the uninterrupted running of their externally-hosted Windows and Linux web infrastructure. As a Senior Systems Engineer / Senior Systems Administrator you will be responsible for: - Management and administration of staging and production environments - Growing the web infrastructure to meet capacity plans - Pro-active monitoring of systems and hardware for fault and error alerts - Out of hours “on call” support on a rotation basis - Responsibility for security, backups, DoS protection etc Essential to your success as a Senior Systems Engineer / Senior Systems Administrator you will possess the following skills: - Systems administration (Windows *****/ Linux Redhat) - Configuration and administration of web servers - Server performance and availability monitoring - TCP/IP networks including LAN and WAN technologies and load balancing - Apache, Resin, MySQL and Nagios administration - DNS server management The following skills would be advantageous: - Firewall configuration (preferably Cisco), VPN’s and routing - Knowledge of Coldfusion and Java server support - Virus protection and intrusion detection - Management of SQL ( *****& *****) Server - Configuration and administration of email servers (Strongmail, MDaemon, Exchange) To apply for the role of Senior Systems Engineer / Senior Systems Administrator, please simply send your CV and a covering letter via the button shown.
