London Up to £40,000, plus benefits: private medical, dental, travel insurance, annual bonus, 25 days holiday Our client is a global player in the IT Services sector: their services keep people and information connected, from proactive business continuity through reactive disaster recovery to interactive high availability solutions, thereby helping over 10,000 clients worldwide have uninterrupted access to their business-critical information systems. They are looking to recruit a Network Engineer. The role: They are looking for an experienced network engineer to be responsible for the overall design, deployment, evolution and continuous improvement of the MIS IT infrastructure. You will ensure new services and solutions fit the global architecture & are consistent with the company standards and policies (including their generation). You will be Working with inter departmental teams (TSG, MiTS, Product) to ensure best practice and methodology. You will also support the department in implementing ITIL best practice procedures. Key tasks include: * Ensuring optimal performance, security, support and availability across the LAN/WAN. * Assist with day to day support and management of switches & routers within the MIS Network. * Provide support within defined SLA’s. * Upgrade legacy network to a more resilient and secure environment. * Provide expert technical assistance & support regarding networks to the MIS department to ensure delivery of Managed Applications & Services, liaise with & obtain 3rd line support from the Network Team within MiTS. * Responsible for generating technical documentation and diagrams and ensuring they are current. * Complying with all Company policies, and all MIS and Helpdesk policies for closure of Work Orders. Educational Qualifications: * Educated to GCSE level or Equivalent. * Degree Qualified (Desirable but not essential) Professional Qualifications: * ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management is desirable. * MCSE, MCSA, MCP, CCNA, DBA - desirable Technical Expertise: * Extensive knowledge of vendor specific equipment and systems with proven competence & hands on experience in the following hardware & services - Network Management & Configuration - Supporting LAN/WAN technologies - Cisco Switches - Cisco VPN Concentrators - SSL VPN - VPN, Firewalls, Infrastructure Security - a distinct advantage - Change, Availability, Capacity Management - VNC/Hyena/Helpdesk ticketing software - Remote Dial-In/TACACS/Cisco - IAS Authentication - an advantage - RSA Server - advantage Aptitude and Disposition: * Excellent written and spoken English. * Proven record of achievement & experience. * Team player with common sense and able to work using own initiative, unsupervised and under pressure, whilst able to work co-operatively and supportively with colleagues & customers, including virtual teams. * Enthusiastic and willing to learn with a can-do attitude. A go-getter with a positive outlook who pushes themselves to do good work. Strong work ethic and highly motivated. * Strong customer service & training skills, takes responsibility and recognises/cares about a customer’s ability to be productive. * Excellent communicator to the user and the team, communicating at technical and non technical levels. An active listener with patience and understanding to enable effective call handling. * Appreciates change controls and has the ability to follow defined procedures. * Forward thinking and keen to make suggestions on ways to drive forward our services * Able to juggle many different tasks with varying priorities accommodating the needs of the users or the team. * Flexible and adaptable in providing solutions, eg working unsociable hours until a problem is fixed. * Excellent time management and organisational skills. * Ability to learn new software applications quickly Some manual work may be required.
