PRINCIPAL
RESPONSIBILITIES: Primarily responsible for a portfolio of client payrolls within a team. You will ensure tight deadlines are met and have the ability to produce accurate work under pressure, with a flexible proactive attitude, and good sense of humour.
KEY ACTIVITIES/REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate:
Will have a comprehensive knowledge of:
All types of manual payroll calculations
PAYE/NIC, including K codes
Statutory maternity pay
Statutory sick pay
Tax credits
End of year return forms P35, P60, P14, P38A
An understanding of the different types of pension schemes (defined, salary related, etc)
Class 1A calculations and returns
Redundancy pay calculations
Payroll reconciliations and analysis
Minimum 3 years’ experience of payroll (preferably in a client bureau environment)
Will have the following abilities:
Ability to prepare Excel spreadsheets
Excellent communication skills with clients and staff
To keep up to date with current legislation
To deal with Inland Revenue/DSS correspondence/enquiries
Will preferably have some of the following skills:
Practical experience of PAYRITE FOR WINDOWS payroll system
Knowledge of employment law
Pensions knowledge and administration
Knowledge of school teachers’ pay and conditions
Time management/prioritisation skills

Note: The Client Payroll department consists of 8 people. The successful candidate will become part of that team but will be based in the Sutton Office working in a team of 2.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate should possess good numeracy, written and oral communication skills.
He/she should be computer literate and be competent with Excel spreadsheets (previous experience of PAY-RITE would be advantageous)
He/she should have a track record of delivering outcomes to agreed deadlines whilst working under minimum supervision.

Previous Payroll experience is essential.
