| My client is a prestigious London University with multiple sites, which are directly-funded Colleges together with a range of central academic activities. They are looking to employ someone in the Student records division reporting to the Director of Operational Services and controlling a database of around 35,000 students.
The role will be based at the central university and will be responsible for the up keep of the database and ensure all candidates registrations are up to date and accurate. Additional duties will include : - To be accountable for the day-to-day operation of all sections within the department - You will be responsible for the delivery of 45,000 diplomas, 6,000 Diploma Supplements and deal with some 5,000 transcript and confirmation of award requests. - undertake a strategic review of the current provisions including producing a report for the Director of Operational Services listing key recommendations for the future delivery of services - To develop a staff resource planning strategy - To produce, on a quarterly basis for the Director of Operational Services, a review of operational performance against set performance criteria, highlighting any issues of concern - To provide future guidance and expertise in moving towards the electronic management of student records - To directly manage the student filing section - To lead the future development of the Diploma Supplement Project. This will include liaising with systems analysts and programmers to ensure the maximum use is made of all relevant IT systems - To be responsible for the recruitment of all staff to the Department - To review all Department operational documentation and produce training manuals for cross training of staff As well as the above functions which will be applied to your everyday work, the ideal candidate will be able to show the following qualities : - Proven and demonstrable experience of developing records management policy - Demonstrable planning and co-ordination skills - Ability to interpret complex information - Working knowledge of Data Protection/Freedom of Information legislation - A postgraduate qualification in records management or equivalent by experience and/or ability - The ability to motivate staff at all levels, including the confidence to delegate significant authority to lower levels in the structure and to accept responsibility for the outcomes. This role will require you to be motivated and a well-organised. For the right candidate this is a fantastic leap up the career ladder working for a well known organisation in a senior role. You will also be given a fair amount of autonomy and be allowed to develop your own team.
