The National Heritage Memorial Fund is partly responsible for the distribution of lottery money. This division researches and finds suitable organisations and helps them to apply for grants. As a Development Officer you will assist the Development Manager and members of the team in the Region, supporting the planning and implementation of outreach strategies. The Development team seeks out and supports good quality applications for lottery grants, particularly in geographical areas of low investment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: -
To promote the Fund’s work, generating interest and applications which reflect the Funds aims and priorities. You will need to become fully conversant with Heritage Lottery Fund’s operational procedures and the work of the whole Team. Assist in gathering information within the Region on cold spots and communities of interest, working with relevant external partners, including Local Authorities, Voluntary Organisations, community groups and key agencies. To draft and present reports, as required, to support the Fund’s development work. To share responsibility with other members of the team for maintaining a database of contacts for the Country/Region.
Maintain positive and productive communications with the Fund’s key stakeholders and opinion-formers throughout the Country/ Region, working closely with the Communications Department.Support potential applicants with advice on HLF policies and procedures.Represent the Fund externally as required.
This would ideally suit someone who has worked for any voluntary organisation or Local Authority in respect of applying for grants. You should also have Educational qualifications to A Level or equivalent.Experience/ understanding of statutory and voluntary sectors in the country or region. A grasp of the major issues involved in the distribution of lottery funded grants. Experience of report writing and collating/ summarising information and statistics Ability to understand and analyse complex numerical and written data.Clear and effective oral and written communication skills together with a courteous and helpful manner with people at all levels.
Good presentation skills. An organised approach to work with good accuracy and attention to detail.
Computer literate with a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail) PowerPoint and the use of databases.Ability to travel and make occasional overnight stays will be necessary
