Banking and Finance - Banking Operations

Knowledge of the Securities market
The Special Transaction Group (STG) consists of four main functions: -

Primary Position Keeping - This monitors the positions of the main trading accounts, agreeing positions with the liquidity trader at designated times during the day so that the trader can square the accounts for the close of business on each currency.

Secondary Nostro Funding - This identifies the funding requirements at each sub custodian and to fund this position accordingly. The sub custodian accounts are those accounts to which all of our custody actively posts.

Interbranch Funding - The funding movements between SS sites. SS London funds the custody activity at sub custodian in the European times zones and the other sites transfer funds to or from London for the activity for clients on their books.

Triparty Repo - The exchange of cash for securities collateral within Euroclear. Special Transaction processes Triparty repo tickets over Euroclear systems and monitors the accounts to fund accordingly.
PERSONNEL INFORMATION

SALARY RANGE
FROM: £19,000.00 TO: £24,000.00

Meal Allowance You are entitled to a meal allowance. The current rate of the allowance is £600 gross per annum.

Holidays 23 days per holiday year which runs from 1st April to 31st March.
Hours of work Your normal hours of work will be 35 hours per week from Mondays to Fridays inclusive with a daily one-hour break for lunch. Your line manager will advise your actual working hours.
Payment of Salary Salary is paid monthly in arrears directly into employee\'s bank/building society account. Reviews are held annually on 1st January and any increases are at the Company’s discretion and are dependent on personal performance and the Company’s profitability.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Job Title: Special Transaction Clerk
Purpose of Role:
You will be providing an accurate and timely cash funding position to the Liquidity Trader in State Street Global Markets London.

Specific Duties:


You will be working with the Global Cash area in Quincy and directly with the Sub Custodians in: -

&# *****; Managing the Secondary Funding (Sub Custodian) balances to ensure that cash is moved to the primary nostro accounts (SSGM balance sheet), thus maximising the returns.
&# *****; Monitoring and reconciling the Financial Futures positions.
&# *****; Manage the Secondary (Sub Custodian) Funding, Euroclear Funding, and Triparty Repo (Euroclear) processing on a daily basis.
&# *****; Identify exceptional items and resolve using tools and resources available.
&# *****; Actively implement initiatives to enhance funding techniques and procedures.
&# *****; Actively utilise available technology and personnel with State Street to streamline the funding process.

Specific Qualifications/Skills:
&# *****; Previous back office experience within the Funding Operations environment
&# *****; Working knowledge of Euroclear- settlement, funding & investigations.
&# *****; Knowledge of the Securities market.
&# *****; A good understanding of State Street’s custody operations.
&# *****; Advanced PC skills - e.g. Excel
Level of Education: &# *****; “A” Level, Degree.
Previous Level of Experience: &# *****; Work experience in a similar environment
Skills - interpersonal, numerical, problem-solving, analytical, etc &# *****; Good Problem solving skills, while working to deadlines
&# *****; Methodical approach to work
&# *****; Good communication skills as you will be liaising your immediate team, operations department, traders and other areas involved in the funding process within State Street.
